Posted by spadmin
Mrs. Andrea Whalen began her teaching journey in 2019, spending four years in fourth grade at Ridgeview. She joined the faculty of St. Philomena School in 2023-24 as an English Language Arts teacher in junior high. She says, “While I may not have taught middle school before, I’m so anxious for the opportunity to be at St. Philomena!”
Andrea attended Bradley University, where she received a degree in Elementary Education with an ESL Endorsement. Currently she is working on her Masters from Western Illinois University in Curriculum & Instruction.
Mrs. Whalen lives with her husband and three children: Lillian, Olivia, and Lincoln. They also have a German Shepherd dog, Oden and a black cat named Griz. In her spare time she loves to run and read.
When asked about her hometown, Andrea had this to say, “This is a loaded question! I was born in Miles City, Montana but moved around a lot growing up. I spent a lot of my childhood in Seattle, Washington but came to Illinois from Texas.”
