St. Philomena School music teacher and choir director, Miss Mary Rose Williams, directed our performance choir students at a wedding on Saturday, November 10 at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Miss Williams was hired as a cantor for the wedding and the couple, who both work at Children’s Hospital of Illinois, requested a children’s choir as well. The students were very well received and several told Miss Williams that they sounded like a choir of angels.

A big congratulations to Eddie Couri! Eddie auditioned for Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) District II band last Saturday in Geneseo, and he has been accepted. On November 10 there is a festival at Augustana College where he will rehearse all day, and perform a concert in the early evening with other 7th-9th graders from District II (Illinois side of the Quad Cities to Ottawa with Peoria being one of the most southern cities). This is a great honor.
