Anointing of the Sick
“Through this holy anointing may the Lord in his love and mercy help you with the grace of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord who frees you from sin save you and raise you up.”
Priest and Bishops administer the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. Instituted by Christ our Lord it is intended to strengthen those who are being tried by illness.
“Is any among you sick? Let him call for the presbyters of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven”. James 5:14-15
This sacrament can be celebrated more than once and can take place in a home, hospital, church, for a single person or a whole group of sick persons. The sacrament can be given to people who of all ages who are seriously ill as well as the elderly, and those experiencing severe emotional stress.

In addition, this sacrament is celebrated with an annual Parish Anointing Mass once a year near the feast of St. Luke (patron of physicians) in October. All parishioners are invited to attend the Mass and bring anyone who may need this special blessing.
