Thank you for your amazing response to this summer’s shoe drive. Please, do not bring any more shoes to the church. We are no longer collecting them. If you have shoes you want to dispose of, we encourage you to take them to the nearest Goodwill where they will recycle what they can’t use. Labor Day is Monday, September 2. There will be one Mass at 9am that day. The parish office will be closed. In addition, Scrip will not be sold this weekend after Mass.

Choir practice will start again on Wed., Sept. 4 from 7-8:30pm in the choir loft. No RSVP necessary, no musical training required. Just a love of singing and desire to serve. If you have questions, contact the parish office.

Treasure in Clay: The Teachings of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Join us as we look at our hometown saint’s life, ministry, and miracles from his autobiography “Treasure in Clay.” No materials are required for participation in the series. No cost to participate. All ages are welcome; come and go as your schedule permits. First class is September 4 in the St. Philomena Parish Center at 6:30pm. It’s time to kick off the new year with Men’s Club annual fall steak fry dinner! We’ll start the new year at the parish center banquet room on Thursday, September 5 at 6pm. Our famous and tasty ribeye steaks are cooked and served straight from the smoker with all the fixins, and of course a great selection of cold refreshments, all for just $15. You can also sign up for this year’s membership if you haven’t already. Guest speakers include members of the Peoria Notre Dame coaching staff. Tiny Tigers Moms’ Group meets Fridays starting Sept. 6, 10-11:30am. Join other mothers of young children under the age of 5 for a time to be inspired, rest, and renewed as a wife, mother, and daughter of God. Lap babies are welcome, childcare provided for children walking through age 5. We will gather in the parish center banquet room. Doors open at 9:45am. Sunday Faith Formation is for our parish children in grades PreK-8 who do not attend St. Philomena School. Classes begin on September 8 with a parent meeting. If you are new to Faith Formation (including transferring from St. Philomena to a public school) or have questions, contact Father David Richardson or Jenny Witt at faithformation@stphils.com or call the parish office. RCIA: Interested in learning more about your Catholic faith? Do you or someone you know need to be Confirmed? Do you know someone who wants to become Catholic? Our Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) classes are something you’ll want to check out. Join us on Tuesday, September 10 at 6:30pm for our annual Come and See meeting. We will be in the banquet room of the parish center. No RSVP necessary unless you need child care.
