Dental Drive
15 Apr 2025 | Posted by: chadmin
Did you know that SNAP (food stamps) does not cover dental items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste?
The weekend of April 26-27, 2025 the St. Philomena St. Vincent dePaul Society (SVdP) will collect donations of the following dental care items in the Link between the church and parish center:
- Soft bristle toothbrushes in adult and child sizes
- Toothpaste (full size tubes preferred)
- Dental floss
- Flossers (such as DenTek or Plackers)
- Denture adhesive (such as Fixodent)
- Denture cleansers (such as Polident)
- Toothbrush shields and sleeves
Proceeds will stay in Peoria and will go to our friends in need who are helped by St. Philomena, St. Thomas, and St. Jude SVdP chapters.
Oral health is a vital part of overall physical health. Having access to the right dental care items can be the difference between healthy gums and teeth, and tooth decay and gum disease. Some research has even shown a potential link between gum disease and diabetes! [Dr. Keiko Watanabe, U of I Chicago]
Donating any of the above items can help improve someone’s life and health in a concrete way!
