Nativity Scenes – Did you know that 2023 is the 800th anniversary of nativity scenes as we know them today? St. Francis of Assisi is credited with creating the nativity scene in Grecio, Italy in 1223. Click here to read more about this history. Today you can create nativity scenes in so many ways. In Peoria we have a Community Festival of Nativities that will take place Nov. 30-Dec. 3, 2023 and even includes a Live Nativity on Nov. 30. Click here to see a story by EWTN showing a recent celebration in Assisi.
