The August 29 bulletin is now available online.
Dear friend,
School is off to a great start. It’s wonderful to hear all the voices on campus again! The kids are always so happy to see each other again. Our principal, Mr. Dippold, our secretaries Judy Schmidt and Megan Loquist, along with our teachers and staff put in lot of time and energy getting ready for the school year. Once again, we are prepared for a school year that could bring many changes or adjustments. For communal health reasons, our biggest goal is to keep sick kids out of school. Please continue to pray for the teachers and students.
With the beginning of the school year, I have begun saying the 9am Friday School Mass. As with last year, the School Mass is closed to those who are not students or faculty members. This year we plan to have more students attend Mass each week. All 3rd through 8th grade students will attend Mass each week. As space allows, we hope to have one Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade each week. The Mass will be live streamed into the classrooms, for those classes that don’t attend that Friday. Second grade is a big year of sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion. As we settle into the year, we will be working with the 2nd grade teachers, and younger students, on how best to get them incorporated into the Friday School Mass.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the ordinary way for adults to learn about and join the Church. Typically people join the Church and receive the sacraments at the Easter Vigil. As we approach September, we are making plans for a new class. We will have an informational night and introduction to the RCIA process on Tuesday, September 14 at 6:30pm in the Parish Center. If you or anyone you know is interested in receiving the sacraments, please contact the parish office at parish@stphils.com to register or ask any questions. The RCIA class is for those who are not baptized who would like to receive baptism, for baptized Christians who want to become Catholic, and for baptized Catholics who have not received confirmation. Please feel free to reach out to us if you are interested.
God bless,
Father David
