Sophia’s Kitchen Summer Food & Fund Drive
3 Jun 2019 | Posted by: chadmin
Our parish staff recently learned that Sophia’s Kitchen is in need of a little summer boost. Their donations are down and they are currently serving upwards of 550 people a day, and that number will probably grow. Each month they host a Food Pantry for those who need extra. In June they are adding a second pantry because the need it so great. Can you help with either, or both, of these things?
This weekend, June 8 & 9, St. Philomena will take a second collection to benefit Sophia’s Kitchen. If you’d like to write a check, you can make it payable to Sophia’s Kitchen.
Through this Sunday, you can also bring in canned goods for their pantry to St. Philomena church or the parish office and we will deliver to them next week. They are especially in need of: canned fruits, canned vegetables, cereals, baking mixes, pasta and canned meats (tuna, canned chicken and Vienna sausages). No perishable products, please.
If you’d like to learn more about Sophia’s Kitchen or are interested in volunteering (PND students are welcome!), go to www.CatholicPeoria.com.
Contact the parish office if you have questions: 309-682-8642 or parish@stphils.com. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
