This week we celebrate All Saints Day, a Holy Day of Obligation. The obligation can be fulfilled at St. Philomena by attending Mass on the vigil (Oct. 31) at 5:30pm or on the holy day (Nov. 1) at 7am, 8am, 9am (school Mass) and 5:30pm.

Giving Tree: As we continue through the Church’s Ordinary Time, we are aware that Advent and Christmas will soon be here. We are currently gathering names of families in our church and school family that may be in need of assistance for Christmas gifts. If you are or know of a family from our parish in need, please email Fr. David (frdprichardson@stphils.com) with a name and/or contact information anytime before November 1. All information is confidential.

PTO wreath orders are due November 1. Check out the school weekly newsletter or the church bulletin for further details and order forms or stop by the parish office.

The annual St. Philomena School canned food drive is now in full force. A box is in the church October 27-November 8 for your donations. Acceptable: non-perishable food items and toiletries. Please no glass. Donated items will be brought to New Hope Apartments in downtown Peoria. Thank you for your support.

On November 3 at 10am we will have our annual Parish Memorial Mass. At this Mass we remember all of our deceased loved ones, with special remembrance of those who have died in the past year. All are invited to join us.  After Mass Father David will also anoint anyone who desires an anointing of the sick.

Our parish memory book will be in the front of church all of November. All are invited to write in this special memory book the names of loved ones who have died and the parish will pray for them throughout November.

Grieving? Know someone who is? When you are grieving a loved one’s death, the holiday season can be especially painful. Please join us for a Surviving the Holidays seminar on Wednesday, November 14 from 6:30-8pm in the St. Philomena Parish Center St. John Paul II Library. Next Women’s Night November 5: Christmas Bows Make and Take  Bring your favorite Christmas ribbon (and a pair of scissors) and Bernadette O’Brien will show us how to make beautiful bows to decorate a wreath, mantle or a special place in your home. Each bow requires at least five yards of ribbon and can be made from one or a combination of two or more ribbons. You may make as many as you want. If you are not interested in bow making, please come enjoy fellowship among friends. Please, do not bring any glittery ribbon. Thank you.

Men’s Club Wild Game Feed Wednesday, November 7 at 6pm in the parish center. Dinner & refreshments served. This month’s meeting is our annual Wild Game Feed, home-cooked as always by members of the Men’s Club. We will also hear from our school principal, Jack Dippold.
